Negative Media Coverage Of Protests Over Healthcare Bill

As I read over the media coverage of the protests on the grounds around the capitol I find myself very disappointed.  Names being used to describe the “Tea Party Movement” are; vengeful, racist, sexist and rebellious.  We are not coming across as we mean to, or that is just how the media spin doctors want us to look, pathetic.

Our anger at a congress that refuses to listen to the very people which elected them is real.  This isn’t about revenge, although the coming elections should see a definite wake-up call for those currently in office.  During their campaigns these congressmen and women promised us much, and have delivered nothing but lies and corruption.  We are tired of being lied to.   We are tired of watching the fat cats get fatter at our expense.  We’ve had a gut full of lies and deceit from those we thought we could trust.  THAT is the reason we are angry!  That is what the Tea Party movement is all about.  Not bigotry or  hate.

So why was a black congressman targeted?  Why were racial slurs thrown at them?  What is behind all of this?  Something other than the healthcare vote must have set this off.  Every media outlet out there has this same story front and center.  Is this what we want to be known for?  I don’t think so.  It demeans what we are trying to say and I have to wonder if those who did this were plants from the government to discredit the movement.  It has been done many times before and is an old trick of those in power to remain so and get rid of nuisances.

Hidden within the crowd, these people appear to be a part of it.  Those of us who support the Tea Party movement make ourselves known.  We do not target one particular individual.  And while we actively contact congress on a regular basis, racial slurs, sexual innuendos, and other tasteless and vulgar sayings are not a part of our rhetoric.  We do not want to demean the Tea Party Movement by using these small minded tactics.  They will not get us taken seriously.

So, who would gain by discrediting the Movement?  How about anyone and everyone in congress?  How about the squatter in the Oval Office?  And of course, there is the media splash headlines to garner attention to a few misbegotten individuals.  These hecklers were NOT a part of the Tea Party Movement as we do not condone rudeness, spitting, vulgarity, racial or homophobic slurs.  The media is having a meltdown over this minor incident.

The congressman took it all in stride which leads me to believe he was informed ahead of time about the incident to come.  There was no shock or dismay about him.  No outrage either.  Are you telling me that if someone walked up to you and called you such vile names that you wouldn’t react?  That’s odd.  Most of us would, we can’t help it.

Every single democrat was a part of this unconstitutional bill so why target only black congressmen?  Why not pelosi who was determined to see this thing through come hell or high water?  And besides some minor damage to an office building door, why not target Slaughter who wanted to circumvent the voting process all together?  Why only three back congressmen?  It makes no sense to me at all.  The NewYorkTimes writes:

Spitting and Slurs Directed at Lawmakers

And while most of the invective was directed at the health care bill itself, several House members said there was an ugly tone to comments made by some demonstrators against three black lawmakers: Representatives André Carson of Indiana, Emanuel Cleaver II of Missouri and John Lewis of Georgia, all Democrats.

Targeting anyone on the basis or race or sexual preferences takes away from the message we are trying to send. It makes no sense to target individuals when the whole of the dems were involved. Yet headline after headline picked up this incident alone and repeats it over and over. Just look:

Abusive, derogatory and even racist behavior directed at House Democrats by Tea Party protesters on Saturday left several lawmakers in shock.

Preceding the president’s speech to a gathering of House Democrats, thousands of protesters descended around the Capitol to protest the passage of health care reform. The gathering quickly turned into abusive heckling, as members of Congress passing through Longworth House office building were subjected to epithets and even mild physical abuse.

WASHINGTON — Demonstrators outside the U.S. Capitol , angry over the proposed health care bill, shouted “nigger” Saturday at U.S. Rep. John Lewis , a Georgia congressman and civil rights icon who was nearly beaten to death during an Alabama march in the 1960s.

The protesters also shouted obscenities at other members of the Congressional Black Caucus , lawmakers said.

There are more headlines but you get the picture. The few people who did this ruined the message of the whole group. That is unacceptable.Targeting a specific racial profile can only be the work of infiltrators.  And only those wishing to discredit Tea Party gatherers in protest would stoop to such low behavior.  This is a simple and old tactic used by government to diminish those they feel threatened by.  And it has worked well for them.  We must be on our guard against this type of aggression, abusive language, and racism.  Those standing next to the ones doing this should promptly drag them to the authorities.

The mainstream media, in cahoots with the government seek to mock, belittle, and nullify our impact on the policies being enacted by congress.  By discrediting us they can turn us into the radicals they claim we are and dismiss us utterly.  The meaning of a Patriot is being perverted into something bad.  According to the dictionary a Patriot is:

So simple, so eloquent.  As Citizens of this country we seek to get congress to uphold the oaths they took when the went into office.  They betray that oath at every turn.  We seek to defend and uphold our Constitution despite what congress does.  Congress works tirelessly to tear down the Constitution or circumvent its mandates.  We will not be dissuaded from this goal.  Nor will unpopular press and planted people discourage us from continuing our mission; to restore the rule of law and the Constitution.

Across the country We the People made known to our * supposed * representatives how we felt about forced healthcare and NOT ONE of them listened.  These are NOT representatives of We the People, they are a clutch of cronies bent on handing this country over to the New World Order.  Incidence like the following were repeated across the country.  Yet not one Democrat listened.

While the calls into the office in the past week were “more nasty and rude” and laced with profanity than the office had ever received before, Karamargin said, they did not reach the level of threat that prompted any police involvement. Throughout all of the protests over the past several weeks as the health care proposal entered its final push, the office was often full of people — many vehemently opposed to the health care proposal — but this incident was the first involving any vandalism.

“It’s unfortunate that the reaction to Sunday night’s vote was a violent one. It’s a good thing no one was here,” he said.

Better a smashed window than a wounded person I’d say. Had the < sarc > Representative < /sarc > listened to her constituents, this never would have happened. The Citizens of this country do NOT want forced healthcare and the feds have NO Constitutional authority to mandate such.  We do NOT elect officials to vote their conscience, we vote for the to enact OUR needs!

Again, I have to point out that while Citizens were angry and using profanity, never was there a threat to the congresswoman herself.  We are simply tired of being lied to and ignored.  While these congressmen and women may be getting paid by big insurance companies to make sure this bill passed, it is the PEOPLE of this country who should be heard and their wills implemented.

What is barely receiving any coverage at all is the 13 States which have filed a lawsuit against the passage of the healthcare bill.  Reuters carried about 2 paragraphs concerning this, all other big media news agencies have pretty much ignored it in favor of the more sensational headlines above.

The reason the lawsuit was filed is because the democrats have over-stepped their Constitutional authority.

States launch lawsuits against healthcare plan

CHICAGO (Reuters) – Less than 24 hours after the House of Representatives gave final approval to a sweeping overhaul of healthcare, attorneys general from several states on Monday said they will sue to block the plan on constitutional grounds.

“To protect all Texans’ constitutional rights, preserve the constitutional framework intended by our nation’s founders, and defend our state from further infringement by the federal government, the State of Texas and other states will legally challenge the federal health care legislation,” said Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott, in a statement.

I predict that more States will follow this first 13. And isn’t that just so appropriate? The number 13? 13 original colonies, now 13 States defending their Citizens from socialized medicine, big insurance corporations, a corrupt congress and the money they were paid to pass this bogus bill.

ORLANDO, FL — Moments after Congress voted to approve President Obama’s health care legislation, Florida’s Attorney General announced he will file a lawsuit to declare the bill unconstitutional.

“The health care reform legislation passed by the U. S. House of Representatives this evening clearly violates the U.S. Constitution and infringes on each state’s sovereignty,” McCollum said in a statement distributed late Sunday night.

Want your Attorney General in on this? You will have to call them and demand this action be taken to protect for the Sovereignty of each and every State as well as the Sovereignty of each Citizen within that State.

While the lame-stream media wants all to believe we are radicals, we truly do only want the federal government to Obey the Constitution, work within the set bounds of our founding document, and obey the rule of law.  We want law and order to prevail.  We don’t need more laws, we need enforcement of current laws.  We don’t want forced volunteerism, we want to do what we’ve always done with volunteer work, volunteer.  We don’t want amnesty for criminals, we want border security enforced.  And we want the silent invasion of this country to stop so that this country isn’t turned into a third world country like Mexico is.

Those who are opposing this legislation do so not because they don’t want everyone to have access to healthcare, but because the government is over-stepping the Constitutional bounds that give them power.  If we allow this to continue there will no longer be a free country.

Passage of this healthcare nightmare eliminates competition, (something that helps to keep costs down and service high), doesn’t improve health in any way, only benefits big insurance companies, and has hidden all the truly bad parts of this legislation behind a media blitz claiming it will cover everyone.  The tax burden alone is astronomical.  The last estimate I saw was $2.35 TRILLION!

Congress only has authority where interstate commerce is concerned.  With the healthcare bill there is no interstate commerce.  Therefore the congress has no authority to implement this bill, assess fines, or collect those fines.  It is Un-Constitutional from the word GO!  If we continue to allow the federal government to usurp our unalienable rights, we give ourselves over to slavery.  I will die before I allow that to happen in my lifetime!  I have children I’m fighting for.  What about you?

At least 36 other States have filed bills and resolutions seeking to limit or oppose the scope of the healthcare bill.  Here is a comment from one State’s Attorney General:

Virginia Attorney General Kenneth Cuccinelli, who plans to file a lawsuit in federal court in Richmond, Virginia, said Congress lacks authority under its constitutional power to regulate interstate commerce to force people to buy insurance. The bill also conflicts with a state law that says Virginians cannot be required to buy insurance, he added.

“If a person decides not to buy health insurance, that person by definition is not engaging in commerce,” Cuccinelli said in recorded comments. “If you are not engaging in commerce, how can the federal government regulate you?”

Make your voices be heard. Contact your local State’s Attorney General’s office and demand they file a lawsuit also or join the one already proposed. Keep our sovereignty for ourselves. We must take back our power, now, today!

  1. Obama ran on a platform of several ideas, one of which was implementing universal health care coverage. The members of Congress, who were elected by majorities in their home districts, passed the HCR legislation by majorities in both houses. Budget reconciliation could only be used because the bill had received 60 votes in the Senate the first time around.

    Of all the inane teabagger talking points, the one I understand least is that legislators are “ignoring the will of the American people” by passing HCR. This was a textbook example of Democracy in action. Get off your high horse.

    And the purchase of health insurance is structured as a conditional tax. You’re effectively fined for not having children, when you file your taxes. You’re effectively fined for not purchasing energy efficient appliances, when you file your taxes. Now, you’ll be fined for not purchasing health insurance.

    Just because *you* don’t want something passed doesn’t make our entire government broken when the many people supporting a bill get it passed by a majority vote.

    You lost in 2008. Elections have consequences. Republicans will regain majorities for some periods in the future and pass bills that I consider immoral and grotesque perversions of the values our country stands for. But I won’t be advocating revolution or saying our government is collapsing. I’ll simply vote in the next election. That’s how our country works. If you can’t appreciate this system, then move to Somalia – the libertarian paradise.

  2. The healthcare bill that was passed violates the 1st and 5th Amendments to the Constitution. For this reason alone it should be challenged. 38 of 50 States now have Attorney Generals filing court documents against it. My own State is in the process of passing legislation which would make any laws passed by the federal government pass a Constitution test. The first amendment allows us to participate, or not, it gives us the freedom TO CHOOSE. This legislation mandates participation, as have quite a few lately that are ALSO UNCONSTITUTIONAL.

    We live in a Republic which means that the will of the Individual is paramount. In a democracy the will of the majority rules. Obviously you are clueless about where you live and what form of government we have.

    The 16th Amendment which allows for income tax was never ratified legally. Therefore income tax is illegal. You haven’t done much research now have you? In order for an amendment to become law it has to be voted on at the time it is brought up in Congress, not years or decades later, or so says the Supreme Court.

    I am neither a democrat nor a republican. Both parties are absolutely broken. Until and unless Obama produces documentation that average Citizens in this country are required to produce daily, he is NOT eligible to be POTUS, regardless of the Kool-aid you are drinking. The rules for running demand that a candidate be vetted. McCain was forced to produce his birth certificate, Obama is required by law to do the same.

    I’m sorry you are so uneducated that you have no concept of what is going on. Stay tuned and learn. You will be better for it.
