Finally, Someone Is Listening

"Torture is banned but in two-thirds of the world's countries it is still being committed in secret. Too many governments still allow wrongful imprisonment, murder or "disappearance" to be carried out by their officials with impunity." -- Peter Benenson

I think there can be no thing so horrible in dubya’s administration than the use of torture.  Those that carried out his orders must be made of stuff I do not understand.  Under no conditions would I be able to torture another human being.  It doesn’t make me a better person just one who cannot do what these people have done.  And it makes no difference to me that it was done in the name of National Security.  It seems that a court in Italy feels the same.

You won’t hear of this through the papers here, or on TV, or anywhere else it seems.  But I did find the story and so will print it here.  It is from the NTTimes Europe division, so the NewYorkTimes here must know about it and has chosen not to print it.  How sad is it when our news media blacks out important information.  Perhaps they feel we are already too stressed out.  This though makes me happy.

indict-bush-nowAccording to the NewYorkTimes Europe:

Spanish Court Weighs Inquiry on Torture for 6 Bush-Era Officials

Published: March 28, 2009

The case, against former Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales and others, was sent to the prosecutor’s office for review by Baltasar Garzón, the crusading investigative judge who ordered the arrest of the former Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet. The official said that it was “highly probable” that the case would go forward and that it could lead to arrest warrants.

The move represents a step toward ascertaining the legal accountability of top Bush administration officials for allegations of torture and mistreatment of prisoners in the campaign against terrorism. But some American experts said that even if warrants were issued their significance could be more symbolic than practical, and that it was a near certainty that the warrants would not lead to arrests if the officials did not leave the United States.

Also named in the complaint is John C. Yoo, and Douglas J. Feith. Now, I’ll grant you that if it gets to the point where these people have warrants for their arrest issued, the warrants probably won’t have much in the way of teeth. But just the fact that dubya and company can not go outside this country with impunity would suit me just fine!

And while I am sure that there isn’t a moment of any day or place where some form of torture isn’t taking place, the fact is that dubya did more to ruin the moral image of America and Americans than any other tyrant in history.  I do not want to see that man living off a presidential salary and having Secret Service escorts on my dollar for the rest of his life for being the worst liar and manipulator in our history.  I want to see him stripped of all of it.  I want to see him as humiliated as his orders caused others to be.

I want the man who lied to Americans and used illegal propaganda against American Citizens to face charges and stand trial here in these united States.  I want him to pay for his crimes against us and against the Iraqi people.  I want him to pay for killing 4,263 American soldiers and wounding 31,135 other soldiers.  I’m sure the Iraqi would love to see him pay for the 100,000 Iraqi deaths too. All for a personal vendetta.I refuse to have MY TAX dollars used for this criminal for the rest of his life.

According to MSNBC:

“Our case is a denunciation of lawyers, by lawyers, because we don’t believe our profession should be used to help commit such barbarities,” he said.

Another lawyer with detailed knowledge of the case told the AP that Garzon’s decision to consider the charges was “a significant first step.” The lawyer spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to talk to the media.

There was no immediate comment from Garzon or the government.

The judge’s decision to send the case against the American officials to prosecutors means it will proceed, at least for now. Prosecutors must now decide whether to recommend a full-blown investigation, though Garzon is not bound by their decision.

While no charges have been filed against dubya or cheney, if these men are convicted it will be time to go after the bosses who started the whole thing and wanted a good excuse to torture individuals who were never charged with the crime of treason and left to rot in Guantanamo Bay.

And, according to CBS13:

Even if indictments are eventually handed down against the U.S. officials, it is far from clear whether arrests would ever take place. The officials would have to travel outside the United States and to a country willing to take them into custody before possible extradition to Spain.

The officials are charged with providing a legal cover for interrogation methods like waterboarding against terrorism suspects at Guantanamo, which the Spanish human rights lawyers say amounted to torture.

Those to be indicted are Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales, former undersecretary of defense for policy Douglas Feith; former Vice President Dick Cheney’s chief of staff David Addington; Justice Department officials John Yoo and Jay S. Bybee; and Pentagon lawyer William Haynes.

What bothers me is that all this has barely been talked about.  If you aren’t a part of group IndictBushNow.org, chances are you haven’t heard about any of this.  It isn’t being broadcast over here at all.  Another media blackout that makes you wonder if anything the media over here puts out is really news at all.  No guts and no glory, news people have been gagged and silenced.  Either that or they lack the courage their predecessors were gifted with.  How sad to be a member of that group today.

Doing a google search will show you many articles on this subject, but none of them within these united States.  How sad to think that censorship has gone so far.  Where is the freedom of speech?  Well I will say what I have to say and not be intimidated or restrained by whatever ails the media.

Quantanamo-Bay-prisoners

Quantanamo-Bay-prisoners

This site has some horrendous pictures of how the prisoners are being treated.  And the fact that most of the prisoners have never been charged has to make every Citizen of this country feel how wrong this is.  We, as Americans, do not torture!  And until dubya, this country had never initiated a war!  What a horrible legacy of dubya’s administration.  Where are the guts and glory of the lawyers in this country???  Don’t you lawyers have any balls left?  COWARDS!!!

And while Americans continue to have their heads firmly in the sand with all the kool-aid they’ve drunk, a few of us are aware and alert.  This internet joke went around on April Fool’s Day:

Obama Gets His Pink Slip! (obama-gets-a-pink-slip) there is a cool picture I can’t get loaded here…

While Obama is in Europe for the G20 meeting there was another meeting here in the US. The Joint Chief’s of Staff had a private meeting and with a majority vote have taken DC under Military control. Upon return Obama will be officially stripped of the title of President. The Military evidently has had enough. Congress and the Senate are all under house arrest until proper indictments can be drawn up with Pelosi being top of the list followed closely by H. Reid. All will be charged with numerous counts of Treason, and tried in a Military court. The Justice system is under guard also for failing to enforce the Laws of the Country.

It seems that a COUP has taken place all so quietly none of us knew it was happening until late tonight when someone slipped and spoke to a reporter.

Looking around DC it looks like a military base, the capitol is under Military Guard, no one goes in or out without permission from the Generals on duty.

The Fed is surrounded by armed guards, lights blazing in the night with lots of activity there. I would imagine the Marines are cleaning house. The IRS was checked and the same thing only people were being taken out in cuffs and loaded into Air Force vans by the Military Police earlier in the evening. No one was allowed to give a statement to the press.

The Officer in Charge stated that the Obama family members would be given time to retrieve their personal belongings and escorted back to Chicago. The entire cabinet is under guard awaiting indictments for illegal and treasonous activity.

Our military has stood up and not a minute too soon. perhaps now we will have a chance to fix this country and keep our Republic.

All Government functions are shut down as of 0001 military time on April 1, 2009.

When I got it, for all of one second, I wanted it to be real.  And while a military coo in this country would be scary, what Congress and this administration are doing is even more scary.  I want my country to be the Republic it was meant to be.  This is NOT a democracy no matter what they tell you!  It was never intended to be a country of mob rule.

Watch this video:

6:36 seconds.

The following should be give to all members of Congress: click here:

I want my country back.  I want the Constitution of these united States reinstituted.  I want those laws which Congress has passed that are illegal repealed!  And I want the president and vice president to obey our laws, not feel themselves above them.  I want Congress subject to the same laws WE the PEOPLE have to abide by.  That may make them think twice before passing any more unConstitutional laws.  And I want their power to give themselves raises taken away.

A girl can have her dreams ya know.
