More Gun Control

There is a bill running through the House right now, H.R. 1022, which is designed to reinstate bans that have somehow either expired or else elapsed. Fostered by Rep. Carolyn McCarthy [D-NY] automatic and semi-automatic weapons will again be illegal. One has to wonder why though they became legal again in the first place. AND more to the point, why LEGAL Citizens can’t have them, but criminals can.

It isn’t your average Jane that seeks to kill massive amounts of people with weapons, it is criminals. As with the DC ban on hand guns, it isn’t guns that kill, it is people. And I for one, am tired of some Senator trying to tell me in essence that I am a child and cannot decide for myself what is best for me. The right to defend ourselves against an enemy of superior force isn’t fair or just. And personal agendas by Senators should be banned too.

The full text to H.R. 1022 is here: Now, I am not a gun owner, but any time My rights as a Citizen are being taken away I get very anxious. Why should criminals have the guns that Citizens are not allowed when the Police are not obligated to protect us? That leaves US to protect US. And yet our ability to do so is being limited by those who are supposed to protect us and look out for OUR interests. I have a real problem with Ms. McCarthy’s bill here for just that reason.

Here is a list of guns and rifles that are to be banned:

`(A) The following rifles or copies or duplicates thereof:

`(i) AK, AKM, AKS, AK-47, AK-74, ARM, MAK90, Misr, NHM 90, NHM 91, SA 85, SA 93, VEPR;

`(ii) AR-10;

`(iii) AR-15, Bushmaster XM15, Armalite M15, or Olympic Arms PCR;

`(iv) AR70;

`(v) Calico Liberty;

`(vi) Dragunov SVD Sniper Rifle or Dragunov SVU;

`(vii) Fabrique National FN/FAL, FN/LAR, or FNC;

`(viii) Hi-Point Carbine;

`(ix) HK-91, HK-93, HK-94, or HK-PSG-1;

`(x) Kel-Tec Sub Rifle;

`(xi) M1 Carbine;

`(xii) Saiga;

`(xiii) SAR-8, SAR-4800;

`(xiv) SKS with detachable magazine;

`(xv) SLG 95;

`(xvi) SLR 95 or 96;

`(xvii) Steyr AUG;

`(xviii) Sturm, Ruger Mini-14;

`(xix) Tavor;

`(xx) Thompson 1927, Thompson M1, or Thompson 1927 Commando; or

`(xxi) Uzi, Galil and Uzi Sporter, Galil Sporter, or Galil Sniper Rifle (Galatz).

`(B) The following pistols or copies or duplicates thereof:

`(i) Calico M-110;

`(ii) MAC-10, MAC-11, or MPA3;

`(iii) Olympic Arms OA;

`(iv) TEC-9, TEC-DC9, TEC-22 Scorpion, or AB-10; or

`(v) Uzi.

`(C) The following shotguns or copies or duplicates thereof:

`(i) Armscor 30 BG;

`(ii) SPAS 12 or LAW 12;

`(iii) Striker 12; or

`(iv) Streetsweeper.

`(D) A semiautomatic rifle that has an ability to accept a detachable magazine, and that has–

`(i) a folding or telescoping stock;

`(ii) a threaded barrel;

`(iii) a pistol grip;

`(iv) a forward grip; or

`(v) a barrel shroud.

OK, so I can’t understand why someone would want some of these, but if the criminals have them, why is it that Citizens can’t? Do these legislators honestly believe that criminals are going to listen to the laws they pass and so make it safer for Citizens? Paleeeeze! And why is it so very important for Congress to continue to limit a person’s ability to own and operate weapons?

CRIMINALS ARE THE ONES THE POLICE HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT, NOT LAW ABIDING CITIZENS.

Education is the key to wise gun ownership, education and practice. With those two fundamental practices going hand in hand along with the wisdom to know WHEN to use a gun or pull one, there is no need for these restrictive laws that only affect those of us who obey the laws, NOT THE DAMNED CRIMINALS! Someone needs to slap these legislators upside the head and tell them we don’t need you looking over our shoulders. We are perfectly able to make reasonable decisions for ourselves, Thank You Very Much!

Quit making laws that aren’t needed. Focus on getting us OUT of Iraq and our Troops HOME. Keep us out of Iran! That is a job you are suited for but stay the hell out of our homes and cars and personal possessions. Leave us the ability to defend ourselves from those who would harm us especially since those supposed to protect us aren’t obligated to do so!

One Response to “More Gun Control”

  1. Somewhat disalousioned with the NRA after 30+ years of membership. I’ve decided to cancel my membership because of a lack of fair dealing and honesty on their part. I ordered merchandise, they took my money, they did not deliver. They could care less if they lose one member or a thousand. Very disappointed with MY NRA.

    You too may find them to be unreliable.
