Hillary, Campaign Funds, Who is being bought?

I know you are as interested as I was in what Hillary’s voting record was and how it compared to her campaign contributions. Well, the results are in. Let me give you a bit of background first so that you can understand where I got my data and how to view it for yourself should you decide to do so. I also encourage you to find out for yourself, never take my word for anything. While I always try to give nothing but the truth, I am human and can make mistakes. Oh, and the financial data I got came from a website called American Banker. American Banker.com The data for the voting came from Vote Smart, Vote Smart So….

My source for the voting information was Vote Smart. They have an incredible amount of data on their site. At first, I downloaded everything with the year marked 2007 and 2008. That took me two days of endless hours on the computer. Afterwards it took me half the morning to print it out, there were over 500 pages! As I was going through the data though I noticed that it seemed I was seeing the same things more than once. First I went through each bill I found and marked whether it was a yes vote, a no vote, or no vote at all. So I had 4 totals in all. The total number of votes plus a column for each of the others. Then I went through each one and noted what the bill was about and the date. That’s when my suspicions were really roused and I called Vote Smart to see why this data appeared to be repeated. They told me that Yes, it was repeated and if I paid attention to the Bill heading and date I would see only the ONE vote that was actually made. <big groan here> So, I went back to their site and did it all again! <sigh>

During the year of 2007 and this first part of 2008 Senator Clinton had the possibility to vote a total of 60 times. Out of that she voted Yes 30 times, No 6 times, and didn’t vote at all 24 times. Now I don’t know about you but this shocked me! NOT vote almost half the time? Not raise your voice when that is exactly what people are expecting/paying you to do? Was she actually doing her job at all? At least in my mind if a person was not to do what they are being paid for 50% of the time, they’d get fired, right? Hmmmmmmmmm…..

So I took a hard look at those bills Senator Clinton didn’t vote on at all. What were they? Were they conflict of interest or what? I had all the data even if a lot of it was repeat data. No reason not to check this out.

She vote NO on the Iraq Withdrawal Amendment. But voted YES to United States Policy in Iraq Resolution of 2007……..

On Women’s issues, something that Senator Clinton is supposed to care about, she didn’t vote at all, period. Strange I thought.

On CHIP- Children’s Health Insurance Program- On 11-1-2007 No Vote at all.

On CHIP the vote on 9-27-2007 was a Yes.

I’m not sure what it means to vote this way.

For the Telecoms, those companies that were part of the spying on American’s who are now trying to get away with it, Senator Clinton, did NOT VOTE AT ALL. The bill, S AMDT 3907 Striking Telecommunications Companies Civil Immunity for Surveillance states in short:

Vote to adopt an amendment that strikes Title II from the bill, in effect striking the civil immunity provisions for telecommunications providers and other electronic communications providers that have provided electronic surveillance.

Now, voting Yes to this would have made the telecommunications companies really mad who donated $75,213,579 to Senator Clinton’s campaign. And voting No would make American Citizens mad because they spied on US! So Senator Clinton took the easy way out and didn’t vote AT ALL!

However, on the issue of Big Pharma, where the vote was asked on an issue of the FDA checking to make sure that all the drugs IMPORTED to this country be thoroughly checked, Senator Clinton voted NO. Remember Eli Lilly, GlaxoSmithKline, and Bristol-Meyers Squibb? They also donated a hefty sum $23,994,876. Their bill says in summary:

Vote to adopt an amendment that requires the Secretary of Health and Human Services to certify the safety of imported prescription drugs.

So, what, we don’t need to know that our medications are safe? Come on. Do you see a conflict here?

She voted NO for law enforcement review of Z Visa Applications.

Vote to pass an amendment that would require information from applications on Z visas, which are renewable three year work permits, to be turned over to law enforcement under certain circumstances.

Now why would she do that I wonder?

She voted NO on English as the ONLY language of the country, but voted YES to English as the Common language of the country.

No to Foreign Intelligence Acquisition

She didn’t vote on FISA.

Vote to pass a bill that expands the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, including allowing electronic surveillance of foreigners outside the U.S. without a court order and granting immunity to electronic communication surveillance providers.

Nor on FISA As Exclusive Means for Conducting Electronic Surveillance.

Vote to adopt an amendment that states that the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act is the exclusive means by which surveillance can be conducted on domestic wire, oral, or electronic communications.

Once again had she voted No WE would have been angry, and if she voted YES THEY would have been angry, so she took the easy way out and didn’t vote at all! CAN YOU SAY BAD?

She didn’t vote on the Economic Stimulus Package.

She didn’t vote on U.S.-Peru Trade agreement. But she wants to be President? Shouldn’t this be an issue for her?

She didn’t vote on Michael B. Mukasey for the office of Attorney General.

Farm, Nutrition and Bioenergy Act of 2007. And here is where the G.E. and Monsanto connection comes in. $14,564,258. Favors, favors, favors, while those that are at the mercy of these programs are hurt!  And you thought McCain was bad?

Or anything having to do with Farmers and their issues except to limit the farm subsidies..

She didn’t vote on the Temporary Tax adjustment of 2007

HR 3996: To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to extend certain expiring provisions, and for other purposes.

She didn’t vote on the Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2008:

Vote to authorize funding levels for the U.S. intelligence community for fiscal year 2008 and to increase oversight of the intelligence community.

Nor did she vote on Offshore Drilling in Virginia. Remember the big Oil companies Exxon, Chevron? They donated $19,159,995 according to the page I viewed.

Vote to pass an amendment that would allow the Governor of the state of Virginia to petition the Secretary of the Interior to allow for natural gas exploration and extraction at least fifty miles from the coastal zone.

Or water resource development act of 2007.

Or on anything having to do with Amtrak of which there were two.

Vote to pass a bill that authorizes $11.44 billion in appropriations for Amtrak through 2012.

Vote to pass an amendment that would limit the per passenger subsidies available to Amtrak through Federal funding.

So she didn’t vote for the budget that works for You and I……….

She didn’t vote at all on the Defense budget. OK, so I am not too unhappy here. But a NO vote would have made me very happy.

She didn’t vote for Bridge Repair Funding. This is a bit scary…….

Vote to adopt an amendment that appropriates $1.00 billion for Federal bridge repair and replacement and allows the Secretary of Transportation to accept money from non-government sources to repair damages resulting from third party liability for the damages.

On denying legal status to illegal immigrants convicted of certain crimes; NO Vote to pass an amendment that would prohibit undocumented immigrants convicted of aggravated felonies, domestic violence, stalking, violation of protection orders, crimes against children, or crimes relating to the illegal purchase or sale of firearms, from gaining legal status.

BUT, Barring Immigrants with certain criminal Histories, YES. <shaking head here>

Vote to adopt an amendment that establishes restrictions on admission into the United States for immigrants convicted of criminal behavior and penalties for illegal entry into the U.S.

She DID vote for:

Yes, for Border Fence and Customs Appropriations

Yes, for SUPPLEMENTAL for the Dept. of Defense and timeline for withdrawal from Iraq

Yes, to Implementing the 9/11 Commissions recommendations Act.

Yes, to the Dept. of Homeland Security

Vote to pass a bill that appropriates $40.42 billion to the Department of Homeland Security for fiscal year 2008.

Yes, Real ID Funding

SA 2405 to SA 2383 to HR 2638: To make $300,000,000 available for grants to States to carry out the REAL ID Act of 2005.

Yes, Energy Act of 2007

Yes, Alternative Energy Subsidies

Yes to Union Organization Bill, (another contributor $26,186,839)

Vote on a motion to invoke cloture on the discussion of whether or not to take up debate on a bill that amends the National Labor Relations Act to eliminate a requirement for a vote to organize a labor union, outline a time frame for the bargaining process, and provide certain penalties for employers who attempt to influence the formation of a union.

Yes, to Point Based Immigration Expiration

Vote to adopt an amendment to an amendment that places an expiration date on a point based immigration system.

Yes, to Guest Worker Reduction Amendment

Vote to pass an amendment that reduces the annual limit on guest workers to two hundred thousand from a ceiling of six hundred thousand proposed in SA 1150.

Yes to Five Year Expiration for Guest Worker Program

Vote to pass an amendment that causes the Y-1 guest worker program to expire after five years.

Yes, to Lobbying and Donation regulation

Vote to pass a bill that increases regulations on Members of Congress regarding lobbyists and donations.

Yes to Expressing support for ALL men and women in the Armed forces. Thank you for this one!

Yes, to Clean Energy Achievement Criteria

Yes to Habeus Corpus for ALL Detainees of the United States

Yes to Voting Rights for DC

And so on.

So, if this gives you pause, and it did me, then I suggest you think twice about how you vote. I’ll be following this with one for McCain and one for Obama too, just to be fair.

Here is an Open Letter you simply MUST read. It has a lot of behind the scenes manipulations on the part of the Clintons. Thank you Sharron.
