I keep talking about media bias, here’s a beauty of an example for you. Did you know there is an African American WOMAN running for president? Neither did I. That’s because the media isn’t covering ALL the candidates. Now there is a shocking surprise for you! They want your choices limited. Shame on the MEDIA. How dare they cut off our choices without at least mentioning this first? I am beginning to hate mainstream media for the lack of choice they offer…
Cynthia McKinney before speaking at the Green Party Presidential Debate in San Francisco, January 2008.
Frankly, she looks very charismatic to me. I can’t for the life of me figure out why she should be ignored when they can’t wait to put up Barack Obama’s picture everywhere. Are you getting the idea that I am that your choices are limited because someone else is pulling the strings???
Until I got an email from IPS News with this story, I had no idea she was running. That’s just plain WRONG! I think we need to start demanding answers from media about things like this. How DARE they limit the choices of American Citizens when it comes to something as important as the next president of the United States? But, there you have it…
And the media has worked her over big time in character assassination! Careful, what you don’t know you may never know if it is up to them. Now I’m sure they will justify this with some bullshit about costs or this not being cost effective, but as journalists, we’ve always looked to them for the news. Guess they just aren’t capable of it much anymore. Look at the last debate that was held, wasn’t THAT A WASTE OF TIME! Voters were so angry they let the media know too. How come you don’t let them know about limiting your choices??? But this is WRONG! I don’t care HOW YOU SLICE IT! The way I boycott the media is by NOT watching those programs which sound like they all came out of the same can, including local networks. I watch movies instead, or read my email, knowing that those sources are will give me information I want, not sound bites from the “Corporation.”
According to IPS NEWS, Cynthia McKinney’s comments on certain things have been cut off and quoted out of context making her look like a kook or something. This is so far from the truth I wonder that she didn’t sue these journalists for the efforts they took in making her look so bad. She has some real smarts here and IS talking about the issues. Something the brain numbing top 3 candidates seem incapable of. And as far as I can tell, there aren’t any skeletons in her closet!
Frankly, I like someone who speaks their mind. I know I can trust that person to tell the truth, even if it isn’t what others want to hear. And I’m damn sick and tired of hearing from the top three! Just call them clones, it won’t change a thing! Only difference is the outside packaging! Cookie-cutter candidates! Now there is an awesome phrase!
Cynthia McKinney has a history with law enforcement, as well as her time in the Senate. I found her profile on Wikipedia very interesting with lots of information there that proves she is not afraid to stand up to those who are both entrenched and complicit in corruption. A must read is her Wikipedia profile Here:
In 2002, McKinney was defeated in the Democratic primary by DeKalb County judge Denise Majette.[9] It was stunning by itself that Majette, who had never run in a partisan contest before, was able to unseat the seemingly entrenched McKinney. However, Majette defeated McKinney with 58% of the vote to McKinney’s 42%.
McKinney protested the result in court, claiming that thousands of Republicans, knowing they had no realistic chance of defeating her in the November in the 2000 Presidential election general election, had voted in the Democratic primary against McKinney in revenge for her anti-Bush administration views and her allegations of voter fraud in Florida. Like 20 other states, Georgia operates an open primary: voters do not align with a political party when they register to vote and may participate in whichever party’s primary election they choose. Thus, relying on the Supreme Court’s decision in California Democratic Party v. Jones, which had held that California’s blanket primary violated the First Amendment (despite the fact that the Court explicitly differentiated — albeit in dicta — the blanket primary from the open primary in Jones), on McKinney’s behalf, five voters claimed that the open primary system was unconstitutional, operating in violation of the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment, the associational right protected by the First Amendment, and various statutory rights protected by §2 of the Voting Rights Act. I have to tell you that this is one tough Lady having taken on the big boys and did NOT back down. When compared to either Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, or John McCain, this woman has TONS of Spirit and enery and it is truly AMERICAN! Every thing I’ve read so far is tells me the hack job done on her was unwarrented. I’m surprised I haven’t heard of her before, but I really haven’t.
She has a rich history and if it weren’t for the fact that the Democratic Party has gone out of it’s way to make sure she
A)doesn’t win,
B) Doesn’t get her seniority back,
C) Has to work 10’s as hard as the males there
She would have been incredibly formidable! These guys better watch out if she makes it to the Presidency. I’m pretty confident that WE the People would benefit from her presence there. Yes indeed! I do believe she could kick some a**!
According to an interview Cynthia McKinney did with IPS:
ATLANTA, Apr 23 (IPS) - “Politics in the U.S. is at a crisis level,” Green Party presidential hopeful Cynthia McKinney told IPS during a rare sit-down interview. “Disillusionment, lack of participation, and establishment of false choice — what is one to do? For me, I can’t give up hope. I said yes when the Green Party said ‘okay, now you want to do it?’.”
That definitely shows where I am except that I have chosen to continue to participate in the form of keeping others informed. This is my weapon in the battle of disinformation, media bias, and sometimes media black-out all together. Don’t you ever wonder who has the money enough to pull these strings? I sure as hell do and would love to expose the bastards.
“There are important issues, national in scope, that need to be addressed,” McKinney said. “Unfortunately, they’re not being addressed now. These issues include a livable wage, single payer health care, and of course the wars. And the rollback of our civil liberties and the infrastructure needs of our country.”
Yup, she has MY attention. Some serious talk on these issues would go a hell of a long way into getting my vote. Not these mambee-pambee effeminate candidates the media is pressing on us now. I want to gag every time they come on TV or they do a huge thing on CNN about them. Gag me with a pitch fork and double bag that sucker. I’m already reaching for the remote to change the channel. I don’t give a rats ass about these “business as usual candidates.” The only interesting thing about the top three is the people they are associated with.
Always outspoken, she lost her seat in 2003, after commenting on KPFA radio: “We know there were numerous warnings of the events to come on Sep. 11… Those engaged in unusual stock trades immediately before Sep. 11 knew enough to make millions of dollars from United and American airlines, certain insurance and brokerage firms’ stocks. What did the [george w. bush] administration know, and when did it know it about the events of Sept. 11?” Corporate media outlets only played the last part of her lengthy quote and called her loony, a nut, and a conspiracy theorist, among other things.
I’ve been wanting those questions answered myself. All the stories that the White House has put out just don’t add up, unless you’ve had enough Kool-Aid and then I’m sure you don’t care. However, my mind still works, and I still want to know. And unless this do nothing Congress gets a spine, we’ll never know. (hack job on bush’s name by me of course.)
Since then, McKinney has remained active in politics at home and abroad, participating in the Hurricane Katrina Tribunal about the effects of the storm that devastated the Gulf Coast states in 2005, and the official neglect that followed in the aftermath.
“That was a particularly moving moment because we had people from all over the world descend on New Orleans to hear from survivors,” McKinney said.
“The situation with Hurricane Katrina is something no one’s talking about. When the Democrats [upon winning back a majority in Congress in 2006] came up with the 100-Hour Agenda, nowhere in that agenda were the Katrina survivors,” she noted.
“Instead of a livable wage, she [Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi] put an increase in the minimum wage. If the minimum wage had kept up with the stratospheric height of CEO remuneration, the minimum wage would be 22 dollars an hour,” McKinney said.
The federal minimum wage is now 5.85 dollars, up in 2007 from 5.15 dollars, which it had been at for the 10 previous years.
Can you imagine what would happen in Congress if their salaries were dependent on the minimum wage??? They ought to roll back their salaries and get paid what those making minimum wage get. Do ya think they would make some changes then??? I’ll bet you gold they would! These bastards in Congress don’t give one shit about you and me. They only care about those that grease their pockets and since you and I can’t do that, we are discarded and forgotten.
“It is not sufficient given the income inequality that exists in our country and the erosion of value of workers’ wages,” McKinney said.
McKinney announced her resignation from the Democratic Party on Mar. 17, 2007, at an anti-war rally in front of the Pentagon.

I loved that last video! All the things I’ve been saying she has reiterated in this video. It is a must watch! Don’t let the media limit our choices, hold them accountable! Ask them why they aren’t covering ALL the candidates and why they are limiting our knowledge of these Candidates.
It is up to us since it is plain that those who DON’T want us aware of things outside their preferred sphere aren’t going to tell us. I refuse to drink the Kool-Aid, how about you?
