More On Pentagon Propaganda, Payoffs And Abuse Of Public Trust

Sometimes it just makes me mad to see the corruption that goes on in Washington and the media. That these abuses continue with no abatement in sight is worse than disgusting. That there isn’t more outcry from the public tells me the Kool-Aid is working. Even with a busy life, this type of corruption and greed should throw up red flag warnings and cause enough public anger that even Washington can’t ignore it. Well, at least someone mentioned it.

One of the reasons I don’t watch regular news, except for the weather, is because the media bias is so bad I know I’m not being told the truth. I go to alternative sources in order to get informed. It is hard to trust once that faith and trust have been broken. This has happened to me in regards to mainstream media.

Knowing I cannot trust my government to uphold the laws of this land is another sore spot with me. The elite get a gold card to (enter vise or corrupt influence peddling here) while the rest of the American People are held to much higher standard. it should be the other way around.

However, our elected officials seem to feel justified in keeping to business as usual and status quo special interest groups. Sad that a supposed “free enterprise society” is anything but. If you have enough money, and you grease enough palms, you get what you want. Regardless of the legality of the situation, project, committee, you name it. How far we have fallen.

Congress and the administration should feel shame and move towards cleaning house, but they seem to feel they are justified in their pursuits of money and more power even if that money and power lead to backing governments that are ruthless and bloody. Our own CIA can be categorized in the area of an organized mob with guerrilla tactics and enough strong arming to blackmail or coerce other governments into capitulating to their desires, the desires of this administration whose corruption and blood stained hands continue to be shown. It is both sickening and disgusting.

It appears that the People of the United States are stuck with the corruption and greed of those we elect to represent us. This is NOT the American Way. This is a government gone awry. What will it take for We the People to take back our government and imprison those whose deeds cry out for justice? Is the Kool-Aid that good? Maybe. ~big sigh~

For a look at today’s news that is worth looking at, I bring you AlterNet.org’s latest on those who told us what the pentagon wanted us to know and what should be in the media. (Corruption here is just as bad)

What the Pentagon Pundits Were Selling on the Side

By Diane Farsetta, Center for Media and Democracy. Posted May 5, 2008.

The Pentagon launched its covert media analyst program in 2002, to sell the Iraq war. Later, it was used to sell an image of progress in Afghanistan, whitewash the U.S. detention center at Guantanamo Bay, and defend the Bush administration’s warrantless wiretapping, as David Barstow reported in his New York Times expose.

But the pundits weren’t just selling government talking points. As Robert Bevelacqua, William Cowan and Carlton Sherwood enjoyed high-level Pentagon access through the analyst program, their WVC3 Group sought “contracts worth tens of millions to supply body armor and counterintelligence services in Iraq,” reported Barstow. Cowan admitted to “push[ing] hard” on a WVC3 contract, during a Pentagon-funded trip to Iraq.

Then there’s Pentagon pundit Robert H. Scales Jr. The military firm he co-founded in 2003, Colgen, has an interesting range of clients, from the Central Intelligence Agency and U.S. Special Operations Command, to Pfizer and Syracuse University, to Fox News and National Public Radio.

Of the 27 Pentagon pundits named publicly to date, six are registered as federal lobbyists. That’s in addition to the less formal — and less transparent — boardroom to war-room influence peddling described above. (There are “more than 75 retired officers” who took part in the Pentagon program overall, according to Barstow.)

I don’t know just how Congress looks on this, but in my opinion, this despicable! Influence peddling should be illegal. With the money flowing into congress, this and other organizations, the only way to stop this is to scrap all those who are currently in office and start over, passing laws against this sort of thing. Only then will we be governed by those who can be trusted to see to our best interests. Hang your heads in shame Congress. As for the military, the choice words I have for your actions are not fit to print…

It seems like big business, big pharma, and big agra are the only names in town with any influence at all. Consider the tons of commercials for drugs today. Most of the drugs offered have side-effects that are worse than the symptoms they are there to relieve. Mention that it helps a man’s dick and he is all over the medication, whether needed or not, and forget about the fact that it is our government poisoning us with the chem trails, Kool-Aid, and other forms of control employed to make the US population into sheeple. Absolutely appalling! But the article goes on to say…

Some disclosures we would have liked to see

Fox News analyst Timur J. Eads works for the military contractor Blackbird Technologies. His job title there, “vice-president of government relations,” is often used to describe someone who crafts lobbying strategies but may not take part in lobbying meetings. So, it’s not surprising that Eads isn’t listed on Blackbird’s lobbying disclosure forms. (In 2007 and 2008, Blackbird lobbied Congress on “communications technologies” and the National Guard on “information systems.”)

From 2001 to 2003, Eads was in the lobbying trenches for EMC Corporation, a multinational “information infrastructure” company. Eads helped lobby Congress and a long list of federal agencies — including the Air Force, Army, Marine Corps, Navy and Coast Guard — for “funding for data storage infrastructure.” EMC’s annual report (PDF) for 2003 lists the Air Force Materiel Command and Pentagon Renovation and Construction Program Office among its U.S. government clients.

You have got to read this article. It truly gives a great in depth look at what has been going on and why this is so successful that those involved are not likely to stop any time soon. The fact that it is so blatantly shameful doesn’t seem to bother anyone short of having the program be “temporarily” stopped.

This is yet another example of the abuses this administration is perpetrating on the American people. When will it be enough? When will someone have the guts to stand up and say, “This has gone too far?” I doubt seriously that we can depend on anyone now in Congress to take a stand. And with this sort of abuse of power, can you honestly say without reservation these candidates deserve your vote?

Influence peddling must stop. This kind of crap cannot be allowed to continue. We outnumber these lobbyists 10,000 to one. Surely that is enough in numbers to overturn this greasy situation? Surely you can motivate yourselves to care?
